Pinot Noir from Russian River, Sonoma County, California
There’s something alluring and fascinating in this wine. It’s both delicate and structured, rosily perfumed yet somehow dark and serious. But mostly, it’s beautiful and delicious. It shows focused, bright fruit and potpourri, but it’s complex and blended with equal parts savory earthiness, sauteed mushroom and dark, low-level mocha aromas. They all hit at once. And wow. It’s a knockout. The palate is delicate and graceful with an incredible balance of acid, tannin and structure that hint at how well it will improve with bottle age. It’s all there.
